Shelby Berkley, Director of Development
Shelby Berkley is the choir and theater director at Carter High School in Strawberry Plains, TN. Shelby previously taught as the Interim Choir Director at West Valley Middle School. He also served as the Handbell Director and Music Ministries Intern at Church Street United Methodist Church where he currently sings in the Parish Adult Choir. These appointments have allowed Shelby to direct ensembles and perform as a soloist in spaces such as The Tennessee Theatre, Saint Patrick's Cathedral, NY, The National Cathedral, Washington D.C. Christ Church Cathedral, and Saint Patrick's Cathedral, Ireland.
Shelby holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Tennessee where he graduated summa cum laude. During his time at the College of Music, Shelby was graduate assistant and taught the UT Women’s Chorale and VOLume a cappella ensemble. Shelby studied private voice with Andrew Wentzel and Andrew Skoog and conducting with Dr. Angela Batey. Shelby is a proud member of TMEA, NAfME, and ACDA.
