Timothy Ward, Interim Conductor

Timothy Ward is recently retired following an extensive 42-year career as a church musician. His musical education includes a Master of Music Degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN and a Bachelor of Music Degree in Sacred Music from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. Tim studied conducting with David Stutzenberger and Rhonda Fleming.

In addition to church music, Tim has taught choral music at the high school and middle school levels. He is a former director of the Roane Choral Society in Harriman, TN. He is a former Executive/Secretary Treasurer for the East Tennessee Vocal Association. He has served several capacities with the Tennessee American Choral Director’s Association including State President. He has served as adjudicator for festivals and guest conductor for honor choirs in Texas and Tennessee. Tim has taught undergraduate conducting and directed the Men’s Choir at the University of Tennessee. Youth Choirs under Tim’s direction have presented the national anthem in many of America’s major league baseball stadiums.

In retirement, Tim keeps himself busy as a substitute teacher at the Webb School of Knoxville, a collector of European Art Glass and an active eBay seller. Along with his life partner Terri, he is often seen cheering on the athletic teams of University of Tennessee. In addition, this semester he is teaching undergraduate choral conducting at the University of Tennessee.
